HB 833 - Provides Relative to in Vitro Fertilization

Changed definitions and responsibility with regard to in vitro fertilization This bill as originally written would have weakened the protections for the unborn, because of the way the bill defined an embryo. In response to the testimony of LACAG and pressure from LA Right to Life and other pro-life lobby groups, this bill was amended to preserve existing LA state law with regard to protections for the unborn. LACAG testified in opposition of this bill.
